Terms of Service
Effective 2026-07-12
1 · Agreement
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Crux, the website, application, and related services (together, the “Service”) operated by Crux (“we”, “us”). By creating an account, connecting a repository, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to the Data Processing Agreement. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation.
2 · The service
Crux connects to source-code repositories you authorise (currently via GitHub) and generates short interactive learning material (courses, architecture maps, and comprehension checks) from that code. The Service is provided on an early-access basis and may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued at any time.
3 · Your account
You sign in with a GitHub account. You are responsible for the activity that occurs under your account and for keeping your GitHub credentials secure. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
4 · Your content and repositories
You retain all rights to your code and repository content. You grant us a limited licence to access, process, and display that content solely to provide the Service to you, for example to analyse a repository and generate courses from it. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to connect any repository you connect, including your employer’s or third parties’ repositories.
We do not use your repository content to train machine-learning models. Processing by our subprocessors is described in the DPA.
5 · Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to violate any law or third-party right;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or interfere with its operation;
- resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties without our written consent;
- connect repositories containing content you are not authorised to process.
6 · Fees
The Service is currently free during early access. If we introduce paid plans, we will give you reasonable advance notice and the choice to stop using the Service before charges apply.
7 · Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and content we create (excluding your content), is owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or branding.
8 · Disclaimer and liability
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Generated learning material may contain errors. It does not replace code review or your own judgement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of these Terms is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and EUR 100.
9 · Termination
You may stop using the Service and disconnect your repositories at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms. Sections 4, 7, 8, and 10 survive termination.
10 · Changes and contact
We may update these Terms; material changes will be versioned and you will be asked to accept the new version before continuing to use the Service. Questions: crux@kiasm.dev.
